MIT-Trained STEM Tutor
Helping expat students across Switzerland build confidence and excel in Math, Physics, Chemistry & CS.
Basel, Switzerland|Online & In-Person
New country, new school, different curriculum — and suddenly your straight-A student is falling behind. The Swiss Gymnasium system is tough. IB Math HL is brutal. And finding a tutor who speaks English AND understands these curricula? Nearly impossible.
I've been an expat in 9 countries. I know exactly what it feels like. And I know how to help your child catch up, keep up, and get ahead.
There are plenty of tutors. Here's why expat families choose me.
Bachelor's in Engineering Physics, Master's in Mathematics & Computing from MIT. I don't just know the material — I mastered it at the highest level.
I've lived in 9 countries — USA, UK, Germany, Spain, India, Poland, Indonesia, South Korea, and Switzerland. I connect with students from any background.
No shortcuts, no cramming. I build deep conceptual understanding so your child can solve problems they've never seen before. That's the MIT way.
Four core STEM subjects, tailored to your child's specific curriculum and exam board.
Students improve fast. Here's what parents and students say.
My son went from a 3 to a 6 in Math within one semester. Nick explains things in a way that just clicks. He's patient, structured, and my son actually enjoys studying now. Worth every franc.
We tried three other tutors before finding Nick. The difference? He actually understands both the Swiss Gymnasium system and how to teach in English. Our daughter's confidence in math has completely transformed.
We relocated from London and our son was completely lost in Physics. After 8 sessions with Nick, he scored top marks in his mock exams. Having a tutor who's lived internationally himself makes all the difference — he just gets expat kids.
Nick helped me go from barely passing Math HL to a predicted 6. He doesn't just give you the answer — he makes you understand WHY. Best tutor I've ever had, and I've had a lot.

I hold a Bachelor's in Engineering Physics and a Master's in Mathematics & Computing from MIT (Boston, USA). Along the way, I also studied accounting and econometrics — giving me a strong mix of analytical thinking and real-world problem-solving.
Over the past two years, I've tutored 50+ high school and university studentsin Switzerland. I know the Swiss Gymnasium system inside out, and I'm equally comfortable with IB, A-Levels, and AP curricula. I always adapt my teaching to each student's level, pace, and goals.
Having lived in nine countries — USA, UK, Germany, Spain, India, Poland, Indonesia, South Korea, and Switzerland — I connect easily with students from diverse backgrounds and create a supportive, motivating learning environment.

No shortcuts. I build real comprehension so your child can handle any question.
I adapt to each student's pace, learning style, and specific curriculum.
A patient, encouraging approach. Students who were afraid of math end up enjoying it.

Regular sessions, progress tracking, and real results. Most students see measurable improvement within 4-6 sessions. Parents get updates after every session.
Both! I offer online sessions via Zoom for students anywhere in Switzerland, and in-person sessions in Basel. Online works just as well — I use a digital whiteboard and screen sharing. About 70% of my students are fully online.
IB (SL & HL), Swiss Matura, Gymnasium, A-Levels, AP, and IGCSE. I adapt to your child's specific school and syllabus. Having taught students across multiple international systems, I know exactly where the gaps usually appear.
Most students see measurable grade improvement within 4-6 sessions. I focus on building understanding, not just memorizing procedures. Once a student truly 'gets' a concept, the improvement is permanent.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the session. Late cancellations are charged at 50%. I understand schedules can be hectic — flexibility is part of the service.
Yes! Small group sessions (3-5 students) are available at CHF 40/student/hour. Great for exam prep with classmates or friends who are working on the same material.
Absolutely. All sessions are properly invoiced. Tutoring expenses may be tax-deductible in Switzerland — check with your accountant.
This is one of the most common things I hear from parents. In 1-on-1 sessions, there's no judgment and no pressure. Students who never raise their hand in class end up debating physics problems with me after a few sessions. It's a safe space to make mistakes and learn from them.
